    Responsibilities

    As a Solutions Engineer, you'll leverage technical knowledge to drive revenue in the government sector working with the Business Development Team to achieve revenue targets.  The solutions engineer is 100% dedicated to revenue generating activities and as such will have revenue responsibility attached to their role.


      


    Performs duties and responsibilities as directed by the BD leadership team which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:



    • Quickly come up to speed on NewWave technical capabilities and past performance in order to effectively leverage existing skills and capabilities within proposed solution architectures

    • Develop and achieve technical knowledge in relevant technologies and products of multiple NewWave partners such as Microsoft, Databricks, IBM, ServiceNow, Paxata, Adobe, etc for the sole purpose of leveraging these technologies in the support of new business.

    • Serve as Team Lead for analyzing/interpreting procurement requirements and framing technical solutions (strategy and approach) for large, enterprise-wide proposals as well as task order responses for new IT business opportunities

    • Participate in team discussions to assess/establish competitive strengths and weaknesses, win themes and discriminators, unique features and benefits, critical success factors, and cost/schedule/performance trade-offs

    • Lead technical team through proposal outlining, storyboarding, writing, and revision process to include creation and incorporation of meaningful graphics; rewrite technical sections as necessary to incorporate appropriate review comments as well as to ensure readability and consistent emphasis on key selling points/themes

    • Provide technical team input as needed into business management proposal components such as work breakdown structures, staffing levels, project organization, transition planning, performance work statements/metrics, quality assurance, risk mitigation, and pricing

    • Attend and document targeted customer visits, site surveys, and trade shows/conferences to gather and convey marketing intelligence on emerging requirements and technologies and to translate customer needs into compelling solutions for proposals

    • Assist with response to sources sought notices/RFIs and contribute to marketing briefings and other materials as need arises throughout the capture lifecycle on opportunities

    • Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

    • Conduct pre-sales calls with potential target customers; planning and organizing sales call presentations and developing demos as required.

    • Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.

    • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.

    • Develop NewWave value proposition to potential target customer's by providing technical information, innovation that solves their specific problems and needs, and training as required.

    • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range opportunities and issues specific to each customer that NewWave can address and recommend options and courses of action.

    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

    Qualifications


    • B.S. Computer Science, Masters preferred

    • 5+ years’ experience with architecting, hands on development experience, and managing IT solutions for Federal / State government and/or commercial clients and/or large system engineering integrators. 

    • 5+ years of progressively increased leadership roles in technical proposal development/support with a demonstrated track record of wins; capture management experience a plus.

    • Ability to participate in business development efforts and be able to write proposals

    • Technical/engineering certifications highly desired (e.g., ITIL, MCSE, CISSP).

    • In-depth knowledge of leading edge tools and technologies

    • Awareness of and expertise in the full range of emerging/advanced technology initiatives (e.g., mobile applications, managed cloud, data analytics, virtual desktop integration).

    • Ability to cultivate solid, productive working relationships with internal managers, staff, and peers as well as partners and consultants and facilitate collaboration towards innovative technical solutions.

    • Ability to maintain flexible work schedule to meet unplanned proposal requirements.
