    Responsibilities

    NewWave is seeking an experienced Data Visualization professional with a passion for creating beautiful and compelling visualizations. We are seeking someone who is self-motivated with a depth of knowledge that allows you to complete tasks with minimal handholding. Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of success with data visualization projects and is very comfortable describing your past achievements.

    • Extract data from multiple big data sources
    • Create elegant and attractive visual stories from a variety of data source types
    • Present findings in a way that compels and enables decision makers
    • Use in-depth understanding of both data and visual sides of visualization to deliver high quality work products that delight end users
    • Demonstrate consultative approach to work with business analysts, UI/UX, and engineering teams to solve problems
    • Participate as core member of Agile team across all planning, analysis, design, development, and testing activities including participation in all scrum ceremonies

    Qualifications

    • Exemplary SQL and JavaScript skills
    • Strong combination of experience working the following technologies:
      • Modern BI Platform (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.)
      • HTML/CSS
      • Javascript Frameworks (e.g. React, Node, Angular2+, etc)
    • Experience managing development and deployment at scale in a cloud environment on modern platforms (AWS, Azure)
    • Demonstrate understanding of Agile and CI/CD practices and principles
    • Strong sense of empathy during interactions with stakeholders
    • Ability to provide a portfolio of previous data visualization work
    • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Management or other quantitative discipline with strong academic record

    Residency Requirement

    • Must have lived in the United States at least 3 out of 5 years.

     

    Qualifications We Would Like You To Have (but realize you may not):

    • Familiarity or experience with Spark and Databricks
    • Experience specifically working with Looker and building Looker Blocks
    • Familiarity with geo-spatial visualization technoloiges and techniques (ArcGIS, etc)
